I’m so thrilled to have been invited to teach at Studio American Conservatory Theater this summer. I taught in this revered theater program in their Summer Congress for 5 years 1998-2002.
It will be held via Zoom twice a week for four weeks from July 7th-August 6 2020,
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6.30-9pm
Because of the pandemic, we are offering this class on line, and although the hours seem long, there will be plenty of activities that require movement and floor work in every lesson. We will take frequent breaks and have discussions in pairs.
I have a great App called Human Anatomy so I can share slides in great detail. We will be covering the spine, head, neck and back, shoulders, arms, legs- a functional anatomy that involves body mapping which involves finding joints on our own bodies.
We will also make a detailed study of voice production. I certified in Jessica Wolf’s Art of Breathing. It’s a unique (Jessica currently teaches A.T. in the Yale School of Drama)
The basic elements of the Technique will be covered including recognizing habit, efficiency of movement, self observation and application to both performance and daily activities.
In the last week, we will cover how A.T. can reduce anxiety related to performance, and every student will have a chance to perform.
